J. Lenora has given thousands of presentations and keynote addresses to every kind of audience imaginable and is known for her energetic and humorous speaking style.  She was the first executive director of the nationally-acclaimed Polk Works Workforce 2020 project, dedicated to educating employers in workforce trends.  In addition to teaching Law at the University of South Florida and all modules of the Human Resources Certification courses at Valencia Enterprises, J. Lenora was the long-time host of her own law and politics talk radio program for a Fox-affiliate radio station. Paul Karlzen (JD, MBA, and PMP) serves as the Director, HR Information & Analytics at Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI). One of the nation’s largest health systems, Englewood, Colorado-based CHI operates in 19 states and comprises 105 hospitals, including four academic health centers and major teaching hospitals and 30 critical-access facilities; community health-services organizations; accredited nursing colleges; home-health agencies; and other facilities that span the inpatient and outpatient continuum of care. Paul is responsible for HR Information metrics, service level agreements, information standardization and researching/implementing leading information practices including predictive analytics, text analysis, and big data.  

Previously, Paul held various leadership roles at The Coca-Cola Company, American Airlines, Ball Corporation and Accenture. Paul is licensed to practice law in Colorado, Georgia and Texas and obtained concurrent Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees from Southern Illinois University, magna cum laude. 

Paul is a voting member of SHRM’s National HR information standards taskforces and has been an active member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Communications & Technology section. He is a first time presenter at SHRM’s Annual Conference & Exposition and has previously presented at the Project Management Institute’s Global Congress.

Roger King represents employers in employment relations matters, concentrating on matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act, state and federal equal employment statutes, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. In addition, Roger's practice consists of representing employers in collective bargaining negotiations, grievance and arbitration matters, and litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts regarding a broad spectrum of labor-related matters. Philip A. Miscimarra was sworn in as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board on August 7, 2013 for a term that expires on December 16, 2017.  Mr. Miscimarra was nominated by President Obama on April 9, 2013 and was approved unanimously by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on May 22, 2013.  He was confirmed by the Senate on July 30, 2013. 

Mr. Miscimarra previously was a labor and employment law partner with Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in Chicago, and he was a Senior Fellow in the Center for Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School.  He is the author or co-author of several books involving labor law issues, including The NLRB and Managerial Discretion: Subcontracting, Relocations, Closings, Sales, Layoffs, and Technological Change (2d ed. 2010) (by Miscimarra, Turner, Friedman, Callahan, Conrad, Lignowski and Scroggins); The NLRB and Secondary Boycotts (3d ed. 2002) (by Miscimarra, Berkowitz, Wiener and Ditelberg); and Government Protection of Employees Involved in Mergers and Acquisitions (1989 and 1997 supp.) (by Northrup and Miscimarra); among other publications. Before joining Morgan Lewis in 2005, Mr. Miscimarra was a labor and employment attorney with Seyfarth Shaw LLP in Chicago (1987-2005); Murphy Smith & Polk PC in Chicago (now the Chicago office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC) (1986-87); and Reed Smith Shaw & McClay (now Reed Smith LLP) (1982-1986).

Mr. Miscimarra received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School; a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School; and a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Duquesne University.

Lauren McFerran served as a Member of the NLRB from December 17, 2014 until December 16, 2019. On July 29, 2020, the Senate confirmed her renomination as a Board Member for a term expiring on December 16, 2024.

On January 20, 2021, President Joseph R. Biden named Ms. McFerran Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board.

Previous to her appointment to the NLRB, Ms. McFerran served as Chief Labor Counsel for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP Committee) and had also served the Committee as Deputy Staff Director under Senator Tom Harkin.  She began on the HELP Committee as Senior Labor Counsel for Senator Ted Kennedy.  Before her work in the United States Senate, Ms. McFerran was an associate at Bredhoff & Kaiser, P.L.L.C. and served as a law clerk for Chief Judge Carolyn Dineen King on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Ms. McFerran received a B.A. from Rice University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.

As vice president of FMLASource, Matt is responsible for ComPsych’s FMLA and ADA compliance programs. An employment lawyer by background, Matt has more than 10 years of experience working with employers’ FMLA and ADA administration.
 
Matt is a frequent speaker on FMLA, state leaves, the ADA and compliance challenges regarding leaves of absence. He was invited by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to participate in a roundtable discussion about FMLA and authored a response to the DOL’s proposed FMLA regulations which was cited 38 times by the DOL in the final rule.  
 
Prior to his work in FMLA administration, Matt practiced employment law representing both employees and management in employment litigation, and counseling clients on compliance with federal, state and local laws. He received his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Richard J. Mrizek is a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Chicago District Office. With the Commission, Richard has litigated discrimination cases concerning race, national origin, sex, religion, disability, and retaliation. Richard has worked on significant class litigation, successfully obtaining an $11 million settlement for racial harassment and discrimination claims in EEOC v. Yellow Freight, a $2.75 million settlement for racial harassment and retaliation claims in EEOC. WRS, and a $10 million settlement of racial harassment and discrimination claims in EEOC v. Roadway Express. Richard successfully tried EEOC’s contempt action in EEOC v. Supervalu which resulted in the award of backpay, fees, and an extension of the consent decree. He was lead trial counsel in EEOC v. Custom Companies, in which the agency won a $2.3 million jury verdict for three women and successfully placed the defendant under a four-year injunction. In 2007, Richard received the Chair’s Excellence in Leadership Award for his work in the Custom case. Richard was an ABA Government Labor Employment Fellow from 2004-2006.

Prior to joining the EEOC, Richard worked in the Labor and Employment group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Washington, D.C. Richard received a B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
