Accessibility and Accommodations

American Sign Language (ASL) and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Offerings:

  • General Sessions and Main Stage
    • CART services and ASL interpretation are available for in-person attendees.
  • Plenary and Other Sessions
    • If requested at least 7 calendar days prior to the conference start date, CART services and ASL interpretation are available for in-person attendees.

Accessible Seating

For each General Session or Plenary Session, we offer reserved accessible seating. They will be marked by decals on the floor and/or with cloth seat covers on a first come, first served basis. Please see a SHRM staff or volunteer to usher you to the designated seating area. Please note, for sold out events, these seats will be released for general seating 5-10 minutes before the program begins.

Dietary Restrictions

During your registration, information on dietary preferences and restrictions was collected. If you need to make any updates, please contact SHRM Customer Experience.

Hotel

Contact your hotel directly if you need additional accessibility and accommodations during your hotel stay.

Lactation or Quiet/Prayer Room

Since the conference is located at the hotel venue, we encourage you to utilize your hotel room for privacy. If you are not staying at the hotel, please complete this form by Friday, February 17 to fulfill your request.

Scooter Rental

If you require a scooter rental, you can contact Scootaround at 1-888-441-7575 and a customer representative will help you complete your booking. As a reminder, the hotel is located at 1000 H St NW, Washington, DC 20001. We recommend completing your rental at least one week prior to when you will arrive.

What to wear

Winter weather in Washington, D.C. can be cold with an average temperature in the 40s during the day with cooler temperatures in the evenings. While inside the meeting space, you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket as the rooms could be chilly. Most importantly, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes!

Health and Safety

SHRM continues to follow the venue, local and state guidelines to provide a safe environment for all attending. Please review our Event Policies page for more information prior to coming onsite.

Parking and Transportation

Parking is available at the Grand Hyatt Washington and the entrance is located on 10th street between H and G Streets. Please note that self-parking nor valet parking at the 10th street garage cannot be charged to your guest room.

  • Self-parking rates are as follows:
    • 0-1 hour: $12
    • 2-4 hours: $19
    • 4-10 hours: $20
    • 10-24 hours: $45
  • Valet parking rates are as follows:
    • 0-2 hours: $33
    • 2–8 hours: $43
    • 8-24 hours: $62
    • Overnight: $62
    • Oversize vehicles (limit 6'6"): $64

Metro Center is the nearest public metro transit stop to the Grand Hyatt Washington and approximately a 4-minute walk from the hotel.

Virtual Platform Access

You will gain access to the ELCC 2023 virtual event platform a few days prior to the conference with a unique link being sent via email. This is where you’ll be able to:

  • Preview the schedule and take session surveys.
  • Network with other attendees.
  • Find related resources, event info and FAQs.
  • Re-watch sessions for 30 days post-conference.

All virtual sessions inherently run the risk of audio or visual issues due to factors out of our control. If any technical difficulties arise, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve it. Most virtual sessions are recorded and will be available to view on demand until Tuesday, March 28 at 8:00 AM ET.
