1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Global & Cultural Effectiveness
Workplace Application:
This session will evaluate the mission-critical relationship between on-the-job development and having a diverse pipeline of ready-now leaders.

Why do women and minorities continue to be underrepresented in C-suite leadership? This session will evaluate diversity, career development and talent advancement, plus the mission-critical relationship between developing a diverse pipeline and finding advocates to move employees along the career continuum. Can HR move from talent acquisition to becoming talent advocates? You will walk away with a new perspective on retaining talented individuals and breaking the stereotypical outdated “leadership attributes” cycle. You will learn:

  • How to make a results-driven, data-based evaluation of approaches to leadership development.
  • An effective strategy for intentionally and equitably developing high-potential employees.
  • Evaluation of leadership development as a competency instead of a strategy.
  • How to remove the ambiguity around career advancement while offering clear guidance to employees on how to advance within an organization.
  • How to create career milestones that all employees can utilize as they attempt to navigate their career path and seek advancement opportunities.
  • To re-evaluate how talented individuals are put into the leadership development pipeline and how to manage them along the leadership path. What guidance is offered? Is it enough? Is mentorship necessary? Is sponsorship offered? Is diversity considered?
