201-202
Thursday 10/27/2016 09:30 AM - 10:45 AM   Add to calendar
1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Global & Cultural Effectiveness | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
You will explore the impact your cognitive biases have on organizational diversity and inclusion and dig into more effective research-driven strategies, including a new model that removes bias from decision-making processes (not people).

Organizations understand the need for a diverse workforce and are investing to achieve it. And yet, progress is far short of where it should be, despite good intentions. New research in neuroscience suggests this discrepancy has to do with the very conceptual foundations of traditional bias training programs. This session will delve into this research and examine why “If you have a brain, you’re biased.” You will learn:

  • The strategy for mitigating bias effectively.
  • The neuroscience behind inclusion and exclusion.
  • How to leverage a new framework for embedding three habits crucial for inclusion.
