Sessions
Religion, race, the role of women and age can have different implications and can lead to different responses in different cultures. This session will analyze cultural values as they complement or challenge diversity and inclusion practices and how you can address these challenges and/or opportunities in a way that can successfully create the respectful environment desired. You will explore how international employees working in the U.S. can struggle when coming into inclusive workplaces. You will also:
- Gain an understanding of how global diversity and inclusion initiatives intersect with local country culture and laws so as to enhance business outcomes.
- Learn how to recognize unconscious bias and micro-inequities from a cultural perspective and foster inclusion in the global workplace.
- Gain a greater understanding of the LGBT discrimination that exists globally and the different approaches multinational companies have taken when sending assignees overseas.
- Explore sustainable diversity and inclusion solutions already in place at other companies that may work in your organization.
- Identify country cultural norms that may be at odds with diversity and inclusion initiatives, and gain a better understanding of the cultural values that may be at the heart of these dichotomies.
- Explore how best to bridge the gap to create a respectful workplace that includes all.
