Transphobia is a trending equity, diversity and inclusion concern in companies around the world. Like many other D&I issues, unconscious bias influences people’s perceptions of transgender individuals and how progress for inclusion is made in the workplace and society at large. However, few experts have studied unconscious bias toward transgender people. Fortunately, one research team has developed the first instruments to assess implicit transphobia toward transwomen and transmen and examined how these unconscious biases impact support of transgender-inclusive workplace policies. In this session, you will hear from the principle investigator and learn about:
- Implicit transphobia and what it looks like in the workplace.
- The development and validation of the first implicit measures of transphobia.
- The existence of implicit transphobia in the straight and LGBTQ+ communities and how these biases impact transgender workplace policies.
- Strategies for improving transgender inclusion in your organization.
