Everyone has bias. It's a part of the human make-up. But when left unchecked, biases can have a negative impact in every area of talent management decisions. This session will give an overview of how biases play out in the workplace and how they impact your decision-making, particularly in the realms of talent acquisition, talent development and performance management. You will learn how to:
· Define what unconscious bias is and identify how it is developed and internalized.
· Describe how the unconscious mind works (fast brain and slow brain), and how our background and
schemas shape our world view.
· Determine how unconscious bias affects decision-making in talent acquisition and performance management.
· Describe ways to mitigate the negative impacts of unconscious bias in our decision-making.
