Home > DIVERSITY LEADERS EXCHANGE: Creating an Inclusive Culture in Your Organization

2016 Diversity & Inclusion Conference & Exposition
Learn scientifically-validated, actionable strategies that you and your organization can use to make your work culture more inclusive.

While some organizations have made strides in increasing the diversity in hiring, they are often at a loss when it comes to retaining people from diverse backgrounds. Why is this? Science says, a question of belonging and inclusion. Often, people who are underrepresented in an organization do not see others who look like them and pick up on cues in the workplace that suggest that maybe they don’t belong there. This can lead them to question whether they “fit” with the company culture, even if they are high performers. They might not feel included or respected as individuals and they may have trouble finding community and mentorship. Feeling included and like you belong at work is fundamental to well-being, performance, and retention. You will:

  • Learn the science of inclusion and belonging.
  • Take home strategies that you as an individual can use to create more inclusion in your workplace interactions.
  • Return to your organization with actionable strategies to make your work culture more inclusive.
