Home > Out of Office The Rise of the Remote Worker

SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition
You will learn the benefits of jumping on the remote worker bandwagon and how to support these employees to ensure optimum performance.
PowerPoints/Handouts Available

Studies show that nearly half of the U.S. workforce has a job that is suitable for full or part-time remote work. What used to be a rare benefit is quickly becoming the way in which we work. This session highlights the key elements that should be addressed to maximize the performance of a team that includes remote workers. You will gain a thorough understanding of challenges affecting communication, engagement and productivity and will learn a variety of ways to mitigate and/or solve these problems. At the end of this concurrent session, you will be able to:

  • Analyze which positions are “ripe” for telecommuting and/or remote work.
  • Identify pitfalls and/or challenges regarding performance and productivity.
  • Identify management actions that either solve the performance/productivity problems and/or mitigate them enough to continue the arrangement.
  • Identify various technological tools and solutions that not only help manage the remote worker but help amplify their engagement and performance.
