Home > Uberization of the Workplace: How the Service Economy Is Changing the Way You Manage Employees

SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition
This session will illustrate how the legal landscape has changed because of Uber and will review how you can effectively manage these new legal risks.
PowerPoints/Handouts Available

Uber has led a revolution in providing services through technology. However, like many progressive advances which hit workplaces quickly, it's sometimes hard to appreciate the consequences these revolutions bring to your workforce.  Because the service economy business model is inspiring changes in all employer-employee relationships, you need to re-evaluate your specific practices in employee classification, conducting background checks, and more. This session will:

  • Demonstrate how service economies like Uber and others are impacting all employer-employee relationships in every industry.
  • Illustrate specifically how these business models are changing the manner in which you are doing things like conducting background checks and classifing employees.
  • Educate how you can stay ahead of the curve in managing these and other legal risks infiltrating the workplace.
