Home > #703: Workplace Violence Prevention: Conducting a Safe Employee Termination

2018 Annual Conference & Exposition
You will learn how to conduct safe, well-planned employee terminations and force reductions.

Effective workplace violence programs include processes for conducting employee terminations. These processes maximize employee dignity, protect those conducting the termination as well as other coworkers, provide for safe and expedient exit from the premises, and consider a variety of factors such as removal of IT access, recovery of company property, return of the employee's personal property, future contact with company personnel, and access control after advisement. Effective processes also employ stakeholder teams from various business to augment HR, such as Security, Legal, and IT. These processes are scalable for use terminating both individuals as well as large scale reductions in force. The workshop will contrast terminations conducted poorly with those administered with safety in mind. You will learn how to:

  • Plan an effective and secure employee termination.
  • Recommend policy enhancements for company termination events.
  • Build effective stakeholder teams for terminations and other events with violence potential.
