All companies need to be prepared for increased enforcement of immigration laws – even those that don't often send people overseas or that have small foreign national populations. As scrutiny of foreign business visitors and international workers increases, don't wait until problems arise. • Independently identify travel situations that could present problems for traveling employees or overseas assignees. 
• Create a plan for how and when to seek legal advice and/or assistance for traveling employees. 
• Communicate potential consequences of immigration noncompliance to senior business leaders and employees, to help them understand the importance of immigration and prevent problems.
