As federal law increasingly becomes more employer-friendly, the legal obligations in many “progressive” states are becoming more vexing, contradictory and challenging. This presentation will address some of the more critical areas where the feds and many states are heading in opposite directions (e.g. EEO classification coverage, overtime exemptions, paid sick days, paid FML, marijuana use, ban the box and ban the salary inquiry) and will serve as a platform for discussing how HR can meet the shifting and sometimes contradictory legal obligations.
