2018 Diversity & Inclusion Conference & Exposition
Gain the knowledge and tools necessary to create your own D&I strategy, and begin crafting your strategy using step-by-step templates.
PowerPoints/Handouts Available

Repeated Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.

Effective D&I work starts with a comprehensive strategy that ties to the overall business outcomes and drives organizational success. This session will provide you with the knowledge, tools and process to build your own sustainable, organizationally sound diversity strategy from the ground up. We begin with a review of a proven LEARN/ACT process to guide strategy development. You will then experience an abbreviated strategy-development process as you focus first on the LEARN stage to build subject-matter knowledge of the D&I practice. That includes an understanding of the basic components of a business case, an overview of the 13 areas of D&I programming, and an awareness of the stages of organizational D&I competence. Together with an analysis of your own organizational needs and examples of case studies, you will then move on to the ACT stage, where you will produce solid, detail-oriented, long-term strategies using step-by-step templates and examples. In this session, you will:

  • Explore the LEARN/ACT process for creating a D&I strategy.
  • Understand the base knowledge necessary to create a strategy, including the areas of D&I programming and the stages of organizational competence.
  • Begin creating the components of a D&I strategy, including a business case and a solid, workable multiyear plan aligned with your organizational strategy.
