Home > Maximum Ability: How to Recruit and Retain Employees with Disabilities

2020 Annual Conference & Exposition

This session goes beyond ADA and helps you to understand the personal, social, and medical needs of persons with (dis)abilities, which will ultimately help to create an inclusive culture within your organization to attract and retain talent. This is important as more than 25% of the population has a disability, disability is among the top three EEOC complaints and more than 55% of employees will have a disability by the time they retire. It will be manditory to create inclusive workplaces that attract and retain talent.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand Disability as a social construct.
  • Learn how to create recruitment pipelines to access highly qualified employees with disabilities.
  • Discover best practices in onboarding employees.
  • Understand universal design principles (physical layout and operations).
  • Apply practical tips on how to engage in conversations about ability (I know it can be uncomfortable).
  • Learn the key tenets of Disability Identity Theory.
