Transgender advocacy is gaining more visibility and making progress around the world. The Bay Area is a world-renowned mecca for trans people because of its inclusive attitudes and myriad resources for the community. However, trans people remain some of the most marginalized people in the world. Organizations can leverage their power in accelerating positive change to ensure that people of all genders have equitable access to secure employment, workplace benefits, and a safe and welcoming work environment. This session will focus on three important topics around workplace trans inclusion: articulating the need, opportunities for change and best practices.

As a global digital transformation leader with IKEA, Tie Wang-Jones works to build out the digital organization within the company across the world. She has a dual Ph.D. in business psychology and clinical psychology, and loves to nerd out on applied statistics research to help the business make data-informed decisions. Tie has 10+ years of experience in diversity and inclusion (D&I), including in program development, primary research, clinical practice, consulting and enterprise strategic planning. For five years she was a global D&I leader at IKEA, building the function from scratch and creating its companywide D&I strategy and matrix network of 40+ country leaders. She is passionate about using the power of organizations to move the equity agenda forward in order to make meaningful change across communities.
