Home > Closing the AI Skills Gap: How Employers Can Upskill Employees for an AI Future

2025 Talent Conference & Expo

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform the workplace, a growing skills gap is emerging. Employers are struggling to provide the necessary training to equip their workforce with the skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven workplace. According to DeVry University’s 2024 report, Closing the Gap: Upskilling and Reskilling in an AI Era, 72% of employers admit they are not offering upskilling benefits to all workers and 42% of employers say they are not confident in their organization’s ability to effectively train workers on AI. This lack of confidence highlights the urgent need for comprehensive upskilling programs to ensure that employees are not left behind in the era of automation. Employers who equip their workforce with the skills needed to thrive will ensure their organizations remain competitive and their employees remain valuable assets.

Learning Outcome 1: Adopt a holistic approach to training for a successful upskilling program that addresses both the technical skills required to leverage AI effectively and the durable skills that are essential for working alongside intelligent systems.

Learning Outcome 2: Evaluate how to embrace flexibility in their upskilling efforts, including finding ways to incorporate both in-person and remote learning opportunities to boost the employee experience and accommodate diverse schedules and learning preferences.

Learning Outcome 3: Analyze ways to make their upskilling efforts more impactful, streamlined and collaborative through partnerships with educators including higher education institutions who specialize in upskilling and reskilling professionals.
