Home > Session #706: Benefits Boot Camp

SHRM 2013 Annual Conference
Workplace Application: This workshop will provide a broad overview of key benefit plan documentation and compliance basics applicable for the novice or expert HR professional.

You have wide portfolios that comprise many areas of expertise, often learning about benefits by solving individual issues as they arise. This leads to a deep understanding of individual issues, but a lack of understanding of how benefit plans are structured to comply with technical and compliance mandates, including ERISA, the IRS, COBRA, HIPAA and more. This workshop provides a broad, basic understanding of how the rules work and how plans comply with those rules as well as educational content on ERISA – Plan Documents's, SPDs, Reporting, Fiduciary Duties; PPACA; Cafeteria Plans; Group Medical Plans; ADA/FMLA; COBRA; HIPAA; Medicare Part D; Fringe Benefits; Benefits Governance/Fiduciary best practices; Summary Plan Descriptions as well as recent compliance challenges.
