In today’s turbulent economic times, many HR professionals find themselves facing budget reductions requiring reorganization or other organizational transitions including a reduction in work force. These decisions cannot be made lightly and will have an impact on the entire organization and even broader implications for the community. Because of the sensitive nature of a reduction in work force, it is important to handle the process of separating staff with dignity and respect. This session will focus on a practitioners experience of downsizing at several corporations including Staples and Hickory Farms. You will walk away with guidelines, resources and tips to help plan and implement a reduction in work force decision.

Dr. Sheri Caldwell received her MBA and Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from the University of Toledo.

Sheri is the former Vice-President of Human Resources at Hickory Farms and currently the HR Director at UT Physicians, as well as teaching undergraduate through Ph.D. level HR courses at The University of Toledo, Lourdes College and Sullivan University.

She is a past president of the Toledo Area Human Resource Association (TAHRA) and is on several boards and has received numerous awards for leadership and community involvement.

Sheri has published various articles and is a co-author of the newly released SHRM publication Got A Minute? The 9 Lessons Every HR Professional Must Learn to be Successful with Dr. Dale Dwyer.

Sheri has her SPHR certification as well as certified in EQ-I and EQ-360 for Emotional Intelligence, also the subject of her first book, Developing Emotional Intelligence In Others with Dr. Linda Gravett.
