Rob Chesnut is a Senior Advisor to Airbnb, Inc. a role he transitioned to in March 2020 after nearly 4 years as Airbnb’s General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer of Airbnb Inc. Rob is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Virginia. He worked for 14 years with the U.S. Justice Department, where he prosecuted bank robberies, kidnappings, murder, and espionage cases, including the prosecution of CIA employees Aldrich Ames and Harold Nicholson. He joined eBay in 1999 as its third lawyer, where he led eBay’s North America legal team and later founded its Trust and Safety team. Rob subsequently spent 6 years as the General Counsel at digital education leader Chegg, where he helped take the company public in 2013. He joined Airbnb in early 2016, where he grew the legal team from 30 to over 150 legal professionals in 20 offices around the world. His team led initiatives to promote home sharing and address regulatory issues with local governments and landlords around the world. Rob developed a popular interactive employee program, Integrity Belongs Here, to help drive ethics throughout the culture at the company. His book Intentional Integrity: How Smart Companies Can Lead an Ethical Revolution will be published by St Martin’s Press in June 2020. As the leader of the North American Inclusion & Diversity practice for Health & Benefits (H&B), Rachael is a strong advocate for promoting and advancing the role of benefits in Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) and coordinating with talent and sustainability strategies and commitments. Rachael is a member of the H&B Thought Leadership team and continues to serve as a senior H&B strategist for employers as they evolve their health & welfare programs.

Until recently, Rachael led the North American H&B Compliance team focused on related plan design and strategy, including I&D. 

Professional expertise includes

  • Advising clients on the interplay of I&D with talent and total rewards, and how employers can optimize their benefit offerings based on the diverse characteristics of their current and future workforce
