Center Stage or Behind the Scenes? Your Role in D&I
HR professionals play many roles: coach, consultant and strategic partner, to name a few. In this session, interactive theater (performed by professional actors) will be used to demonstrate various opportunities for you to impact D&I outcomes at your organization. Examples of D&I best practices will be revealed using real-life scenarios from a variety of sectors. These scenarios will involve ambiguous situations, comments and attitudes that illustrate unconscious bias and inclusive and exclusive behavior. In these scenarios, organizational D&I maturity will be demonstrated, and as each scene plays out, each organization’s D&I maturity level will be revealed. The scenarios and subsequent activities are designed to help you:
- Diagnose challenging situations and explore options for productive, high-impact interventions you can make as HR leaders.
- Recognize ways in which your own thinking, unconscious biases and behaviors can foster or inhibit a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Identify and practice alternative strategies for moving an organization along the D&I maturity framework.
