In a 2018 survey of 1,000 full-time employees, Imperative found that people report being more than twice as likely to learn from peers as from their managers. The research also points to why peer coaching is, in many ways, preferable to traditional, manager-driven learning. What if we shifted some of our focus to make peer learning more accessible and effective? How would that evolve the workplace to be more human, meaningful, and fulfilling? In the same 2018 survey of a random sample of the U.S. workforce, we asked people if they would be willing to coach a peer if asked: 90% said yes. In a company of 10,000 employees, that would compare to suddenly adding 9,000 people to the learning and development team. Gain an understanding of the opportunity peer coaching presents, discover why it will disrupt learning and development as we know it, and explore how to apply peer coaching at your organization.
