Attendees will receive a comprehensive overview of the various components necessary to achieve a compliant and successful expatriate assignment.

This program will be primarily designed to address the special issues related to U.S. based employers sending employees abroad and/or accepting in-bound employees from abroad for assignments of at least 1 year or more. Topics such as social security and tax equalization issues, housing and relocation issues, employee benefits and compensation, contractual obligations, the application of local law and the overall best practices that should apply to handling globally mobile employees. The program will present practical examples to apply to the various concepts discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of the major best practice principals that should apply to an expatriate assignment.
  • Discuss the new trend related to working remotely, creating additional issues for employers with individuals who due to immigration reasons, the pandemic restrictions, or cost management efforts, are now working remotely in another country.
  • Highlight how many of the same issues that apply to expatriate assignments find their way to impact telework relationships as well.
