Equity continues to be a critical workplace issue as SHRM and HR professionals have long been committed to building diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces.
In August 2020, SHRM launched Together Forward @Work—a call to action for the business community and HR professionals to drive racial inequity and social injustice from the workplace. Additionally, SHRM formed a Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity, which convened HR and workplace experts, including SHRM Volunteer Leaders, chief human resource officers, researchers, academics and other business executives, who have consistently—and committedly—worked to identify long-term solutions to creating inclusive workplaces.
During this session we’ll hear directly from a member of SHRM’s Blue Ribbon Commission, business and public policy leaders on how HR professionals can play an instrumental role in driving workplace equity.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
- Learn about the SHRM Blue Ribbon Commission, the role HR professionals play in driving workplace equity, and the proposals on the horizon from Congress and the agencies.
- Gain an understanding about the framework and language to engage with policymakers on pay equity, harassment and the importance of workplace culture.
- Understand how to assess your own organization on the equity continuum, and craft solution-based methods of increasing equity in your organization.
