Silence about things that matter to us impairs fostering an inclusive work environment. Yet conversations about sensitive subjects can become divisive and polarizing, and can even be perceived as creating a hostile environment or revealing a discriminatory animus. This program will discuss legal boundaries and explore approaches to effectively handling open dialogue regarding race, gender, gender identity, religion, bias, equity and social justice allyship.

OBJECTIVES

  • Learn how to have conversations about sensitive subjects in the workplace without creating a hostile environment or revealing discriminatory animus.
  • Learn the legal boundaries and effective approaches for discussions about race, gender, gender identity, religion and bias.
  • Learn about the current state of pay equity and how this has played out in the court system.
  • Learn about social justice allyship and how this relates to the workplace.
