Workplace Application:
This session will help you gain practical insight into achieving compliance with local employment laws in various emerging market jurisdictions.

This session will give you a broad but substantive overview of various compliance obligations related to employment relationships in many key emerging market jurisdictions. Designed primarily for U.S.-based HR professionals, this session will include a discussion on  various rules in major economies such as Brazil, Mexico, the Middle East, India, Russia and China to help you understand the differences and special challenges that are unique to these jurisdictions. A full range of topics from recruiting, hiring, ongoing management, terminations, non-compete rules and other compliance issues will be presented with practical examples from each jurisdiction. This session will help you:

  • Understand the significant special compliance challenges in developing jurisdictions when compared with U.S. practices.
  • Gain insight into the influence of different cultural backgrounds upon employment related legislation and local best practices, which will allow for improved strategic decision making in the design of recruiting policies, compensation schemes and performance management concepts from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
  • Understand the various issues that must be considered when comparing employment policy criteria among developed jurisdictions against emerging market jurisdictions.
