1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Leadership & Navigation, Communication | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
You will learn key principles for helping people throughout your organization cope with and adapt to change.

Change is one of life's most difficult and stressful challenges. It is also constant! Most leaders realize change is necessary, and force themselves through the process. The problem is, they FORCE their people through it also, rather than HELPING them cope with and acclimate to it. These strategies will help you and your leaders make the change process less stressful, less painful, and more tolerable. Equipping your people to cope with and work through change will help them to remain engaged and productive, even in the midst of an ever-shifting landscape. These strategies will help you prepare for and facilitate the process for yourself and for your team members, and minimize the pain change brings. This session will help you:

  • Diagnose your own perception of change, realize how it may be limiting your success, and reconfigure your ability to adapt to it.
  • Prepare for your team members to resist change, and will teach you how to “sell” them on the necessity and benefits of it, making them more likely to move forward.
  • Reduce the fear of change many people experience, by creating a culture that embraces progress through evolution rather than waiting so long that change requires a major (and traumatic) event.
  • Leave equipped with a six-step process to successfully introduce and implement changes.
