Sessions
To determine truthfulness in workplace investigations, many people rely on “gut instinct” and inaccurate stereotypes about how liars behave. Instead, you should use questioning strategies that researchers have found make it difficult for liars to maintain their deception. In this presentation, you will learn how to ask witnesses to (1) provide a free narrative, (2) draw the event they described, (3) tell their story in reverse order, (4) answer relevant but unexpected questions, and (5) answer questions related to time, space, or the five senses. You’ll learn how use of these questioning strategies will greatly improve your ability to determine who is being truthful, even in “he said/she said” cases.
