Jeffrey leads the Workplace Dignity Program at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. The program reimagines how people should be valued and treated at work, and equips organizations and their leaders with strategies and tools that allow all workers to truly thrive, no matter the work they do or where they do it. 

A former employment lawyer, Jeffrey has more recently led global inclusion and diversity teams at leading finance and tech companies (including Morgan Stanley, Apple and Twitter). In those roles he prioritized centering equity and inclusion across people processes, creating more intentionality and engagement around what an inclusive culture should be, establishing relationships across industries and advocacy groups, and thinking differently about how companies show up outside of the workplace.

Kathleen Christensen, Ph.D., serves as Co-Director of Work Equity at Boston College’s Center for Social Innovation. Previously, she founded and led the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s cutting-edge research programs on working families; the aging workforce; and the impacts of outsourcing on the U.S. workforce, as well as spearheading, with SHRM, the first national campaign to advance workplace flexibility. Dr. Christensen worked closely with the White House on its 2010 Forum on Workplace Flexibility and its 2014 Summit on Working Families. Author/editor of seven books, Dr. Christensen was formerly Professor of Psychology at the Graduate Center, City University New York. Under her visionary leadership, NPower has grown from $6 million to a $24 million organization, tripling their staff and expanding their proven program to four new cities. 

Bertina’s commitment to helping young adults and military-connected individuals launch tech careers and break social and economic mobility barriers has led to her involvement in strategic alliance organizations including: Founding member of TechPact; member, CEO Action; steering committee member, American’s Promise; Wall Street Journal CEO Council; as well as membership on Forbes Council and Concordia communities.  She was named as one of the Tech Industry's Brightest Superstars by the US Black Engineer & IT magazine.

An engineer by training, Bertina has worked as a technology leader at Procter & Gamble and NBC before pivoting to the nonprofit sector. Growing up in a working-class family and the first to graduate from high school, she was drawn to a community that once supported her own educational endeavors. After a successful career in the corporate sector, Bertina chose to transition her skills to the nonprofit sector.  Bertina held senior leadership roles at United Way of New York City and the Wildlife Conservation Society where she was responsible for generating over $85 million annually in programmatic and unrestricted funds.   She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

She is an engaged storyteller, who leads with heart, committed to moving the mission of NPower to new heights.  She is the co-author, together with Susanne Tedrick, of the upcoming book, “Innovating for Diversity: Lessons from Top Companies that are Disrupting Old Practices to Achieve Inclusivity, Equity and Business Success” to be published by Wiley March 2023.

Taryell Simmons is an HR Services Manager for the Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Division in the County of San Diego. Taryell and his team have collaborated with various stakeholders to craft a future where all members can fully realize their potential through our diversity, strategic initiatives, partnerships, training, and policy development.

After working in building workforce programs and Talent Development for over eight years, he became more involved in efforts to integrate EDI as internal support, specifically in recruitment, hiring, professional development & career advancement.

Taryell Simmons is also a Board Of Director for Village UP, powering inclusivity in the San Diego Startup Space. Village Up is a collaborative initiative to increase diversity and access to the San Diego innovation economy. After winning a startup weekend pitch competition hosted by Google and Techstars, Taryell became more involved in D&I efforts to help bring diversity to the Tech Startup space. 

He is a RISE Urban Leadership graduate and a 2020 Rockwood Leadership Institute fellow. Ben Greene is a transgender advocate and educator who has spoken internationally on topics surrounding transgender inclusion. After coming out at 15 in a small town, Ben has devoted his career to spreading empathy, education, and storytelling around the trans experience, and has spoken for companies, hospitals, schools, religious organizations, and government entities sharing what it means to be transgender and how to show up as an ally. He is a fierce advocate for transgender youth, regularly speaking in their defense at the Missouri State Capitol, and is the author of the book "My Child is Trans, Now What? A Joy Centered Approach to Support". He is passionate about educating others from a place of compassion—no matter where they’re starting from.
