Gene Zaino, a nationally recognized expert in the contract workforce market, launched MBO Partners to re-invent the way independent consultants and organizations work together. Zaino is a major force in the independent workforce movement, committed to making it easier for self-employed professionals and their clients to work together.

Gene is an avid entrepreneur who graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Economics (BSE). After four years with KPMG as a CPA and management consultant, he spent 20 years building various consulting companies, some funded by financial luminaries Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Austin Ventures, and Goldman Sachs.

He has served on the expert advisory board for the Human Capital Institute and collaborated with other industry leaders to create and develop the Contract Talent Research Practice Area at HCI, furthering education, ethics, and industry best practices. Zaino has led executive seminars at the Project Management Institute, Staffing Industry Analysts, and the Military Officers Association of America. He is a frequent speaker and has appeared in publications, radio and television including CNN, CNBC, Forbes, Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal.

Judy joined NELP in 2007 after spending seven years as the co-founder and executive director of the D.C. Employment Justice Center, a legal service provider devoted to workplace justice in the D.C. metropolitan area. Judy has developed NELP’s presence in D.C., working to bring the expertise and experience of NELP and its allies to the halls of Congress and relevant agencies. She has lobbied on issues of income security, job training for workers who have lost jobs due to globalization, and the needs of workers who have criminal records serving as a barrier to full employment. Before joining NELP, Judy’s work has been widely recognized with awards from the American Bar Association, the Washington Area Women’s Foundation, the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C., and the Echoing Green Foundation.

William D. Wight is a partner in the Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. offices and is the chair of the firm's International Employment Practice Group.  He counsels employers on various global employment, compensation and benefit issues related to employees abroad, as well as foreign nationals working in the U.S. and the employment of the U.S. permanent residents and citizens abroad.  Bill has worked with compliance issues related to hiring, retention and separation of employees in a multitude of jurisdictions.  His experience with global employment issues has helped him assist our clients with international operations on all sevel continents including Antarctica.  Bill has assisted clients with the implementation of strategic planning and policy development with respect to global HR practices and policies.  He has also assisted clients with the management of litigation and employment controversy matters in numerous international jurisdictions.  Bill has also counseled clients based outside the United States with the special considerations that are required when complying with U.S. employment and employee benefit rules and regulations. Bill is regularly involved with resolving questions related to privacy and data protection issues.  

David Lewis is the founder, president, and CEO of OperationsInc, one of the nation’s largest human resources consulting firms. OperationsInc has grown steadily since its inception in 2001, and now engages a team of over 90 professionals providing HR, Payroll, Training, and Recruiting support to a base of over 1,600 clients. David is leveraging a 30-plus year career in human resources and operational management for leading firms including Merck/Medco and Computer Associates. He serves as an on-air subject matter expert in the areas of human resources, workplace management, and small business issues for MSNBC, FOX, CBS Radio and NPR, and regularly appears in national publications like The New York Times, Inc., and The Wall Street Journal.

Scott Derthick is the Chief People and Culture Officer at Peckham, Inc. He has been with Peckham for 19 years and earned a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University and a master’s of Horticulture and Packaging.

Derthick serves as a board member for the Human Service Association Workers Compensation Fund and Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center.

His HR philosophy is to become an ambassador or steward of the culture, guiding staff to keep the mission top of mind in all they do. Derthick also provides leadership in the areas of Wellness, Safety, Opportunity for Improvement, Asset Building, Peckham University and Sustainability efforts at Peckham.

His diligence and commitment to the Peckham culture has helped keep staff and leadership grounded in the mission as we continue to grow as an organization. His unique and innovative approach to Human Resources has served Peckham well and helped recruit a level of staff who not only have what it takes to succeed but that something extra-compassion, commitment and a keen focus on the Peckham mission. 

Norm Sabapathy is responsible for the leadership of Cadillac Fairview’s Human Resources team and enabling outstanding people performance company-wide. Norm is an accomplished executive with more than 20 years of management experience with global industry leaders in industrial, transportation, manufacturing, services, food and consumer packaged goods sectors. He holds Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Industrial Relations degrees, and has been granted the designations Certified Human Resources Professional and Senior Human Resources Professional.

A master teacher and world-class speaker, Dr. Roch Parayre is a strategist who blends rigor with contagious enthusiasm. He urges leaders and organizations towards new ways of thinking: “My job is to energize people – both in the classroom and in the boardroom. If you aren’t passionate about your strategy, you’ll never get the buy-in you need to grow and transform your business.”

Roch has advised organizations on five continents and across a wide spectrum of industries. Clients such as Pepsi, Microsoft, GE, Disney, L’Oreal, Merrill Lynch, and Comcast rely on Roch for his expertise and motivational skills. His executive education seminars focus on decision-making, scenario planning, innovation, and strategy.

A Teaching Fellow at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he is co-Academic Director of Wharton’s Full-Spectrum Innovation program. Roch also teaches at CEDEP and INSEAD in France, for Duke Corporate Education, and at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He was previously a Senior Fellow in the Mack Center for Technological Innovation at the Wharton School, and was a faculty member at the Cox School of Business at SMU, where he won numerous MBA teaching awards.  Roch holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Ottawa, an M.S. in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Business Strategy from the University of British Columbia. His work has been published in a variety of academic journals, industry reports, and trade publications. He also leads DSI’s Blue Ocean Strategy practice.

Cheryl Mohr, is Head of HR Global Operations & Global Functions HR. In this role she has responsibility for the delivery of HR programs and services, Workforce Planning, HR Systems, Labor & Compliance and MADO. In addition, Cheryl leads HR for Global Functions which includes Finance, Legal, Marketing and HR. She is responsible for Business HR support, for both Global Functions and our Go-to-Market organization. Cheryl is a member of HP’s Human Resources Leadership Team reporting to Tracy Keogh.

Cheryl has had responsibility for leading a number of major initiatives for HP which included the separation of the HR function as part of the company split and was responsible for leading the HR PMO for HP’s Make It Better initiative.

Cheryl has been with HP for over 33 years, and during this time has served in a number of key HR leadership roles. Cheryl’s prior roles include Sr Vice President for Global Functions; Vice President of Global Labor Relations and HR Compliance, where she was responsible for creating the Labor Relations Function, delivering HP’s labor relations strategy, managing HR Compliance as well as HP’s Contingent Workforce program. Prior to that role, Cheryl was the Vice President of HR for the Americas Region, providing HR leadership to ensure the world class delivery of HR programs and services for the U.S., Latin America and Canada.

Cheryl began her career at Hewlett Packard in 1991, when HP acquired Avantek. Since joining HP, Cheryl has held regional and worldwide HR positions, including HR Manager for Global Support Logistics, HR Manager for the Hardware Services Organization and HR Manager HP Services North America.

Cheryl has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University.
