Managing Employees in the Virtual/Hybrid and In-Person Worlds: Avoiding Wage and Hour Pitfalls
271-273
In-Person Wednesday 06/15/2022 08:45 AM - 09:45 AM   Add to calendar
Competencies: Business (Behavioral), Leadership (Behavioral), Workplace (Technical)
Workplace Application:
Attendees will learn to spot and creatively address wage and hour problems associated with remote, hybrid and in-person work, including sporadic and long work hours and application of different laws.

Working anywhere, in any capacity (remote, hybrid or in-person) and at any time is the new "normal."  This lively session explores the wage and hour pitfalls inherent in the virtual and hybrid workforces, such as how to mitigate risk associated with tracking time and work for exempt and non-exempt employees, remote access to workplace technology and how, whether and when to compensate for work travel, home office expenses, time spent checking emails and texts and even sleep.  This program will also cover the question of which law (local, state or federal) applies to your remote workers.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to apply the legal standards for compensating employees in light of changed business circumstances that enables workers to work from anywhere and at any time.
  • How to design creative strategies to mitigate wage and hour risks associated with hybrid and remote work programs.
  • Understanding legal rules to determine which law will apply to remote/hybrid employees. This is often important for determining overtime and other wage and hour rules for remote/hybrid workers.

In-person session offerings are on a first-come, first-served basis.
