Home > SPONSORED SESSION: Daughters in the Workplace: The Forgotten Caregiver

SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition
Workplace Application: This session will help you understand the challenges facing those caring for senior parents as well as what policies and benefits you can implement to improve your employees’ performance and reduce attrition.
PowerPoints/Handouts Available

For the first time in history, there are more people over age 60 than under the age of five. And, women are disproportionally impacted by this aging trend. It is proven that across all socioeconomic lines, daughters shoulder the majority of the responsibility of caring for their parents as they age. Oftentimes, women are thrust into a caregiving role yet the same accommodations frequently do not exist for her as they do for a new mom or dad. Paul Hogan has a message for you – care for your employees who are caring for their parents as you care for your employees who are caring for small children. Based on his guidelines created as part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Aging, Hogan will share age-friendly workplace principals. For the first time, he will release the Caregiver-Friendly Business Practices, new research indicating the need for these practices and announce major businesses who have signed on. This session will:

  • Help you create a more supportive workplace for caregivers.
  • Introduce DaughtersInTheWorkplace.com, a website that helps working caregivers understand their rights and offers materials to help create more supportive workplaces for caregivers.
