Additionally, Windley held executive human resources positions at Microsoft, Intuit and Silicon Graphics, Inc. He is currently the Board Chair for the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), and serves on the Tenant Company Board of Directors as the Compensation Committee Chair. Windley is a Governance Fellow with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He earned his MBA from San Francisco State University and is a graduate of San Diego State University.

Arte Nathan served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Steve Wynn’s gaming companies from 1983 – 2006; he currently consults, writes and teaches. He recently joined the board of Hope for Prisoners, a Las Vegas-based non-profit organization that facilitates reentry and reintegration services to men, women, and young adults who are exiting various segments of the judicial system.

Arte graduated from Cornell University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations.  He is an avid musician, hiker, canoeist, book enthusiast and grandfather.

Kari Strobel

In her role as Director, HR Competencies for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Kari Strobel is responsible for overseeing key initiatives around professionalism and competencies to include the assessment and implementation of SHRM’s HR Competency Model, and setting the research agenda for developing additional competency-based talent management tools.

Prior to joining SHRM in 2013, Dr. Strobel worked at the Department of Defense where she was responsible for leading the development, assessment, and implementation of competencies for the total force.  Dr. Strobel has also been responsible for managing organizational development projects for the Chief of Naval Operations, Surface Warfare Enterprise and the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command. 

With over 30 journal articles, technical reports, and national and international conference presentations, to include published works in Journal of Applied Psychology and Human Performance, Situation Awareness and Automation, Dr. Strobel has received national recognition for her contributions to the field.  She was the first recipient of the 2002 American Psychological Association Division 19 (Military Psychology) Research Award, and received Honorable Mention from the Virginia Academy of Science for her team performance research. 

As a consultant she has worked with Hewlett Packard, Motorola, Royal Dutch Shell, Deutche Bank, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, The United States Army, and the State of Virginia’s Peninsula Aids Foundation.

Dr. Strobel received her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Old Dominion University.

Cornelia C. Springer has 20 plus years of experience in the credentialing industry. Over the past year Ms. Springer has been engaged as a contractor with SHRM to aid in the development of the new SHRM certification program. Her many years of certification experience has provided foundational knowledge in the development of program policies, certification and recertification criteria as well as aided in defining the customer relations management database.

Prior to joining Real Time Process Solutions in 2011 as a certification consultant, Ms. Springer held several leadership roles with the HR Certification Institute including Executive Director and Operations Director from 1990 to 2010. During her tenure with the HR Certification Institute she had operational oversight for budget development, product development, and the administration of the certification, recertification and pre-approval programs. While with the HR Certification Institute she was instrumental in moving from paper and pencil testing to computerized testing, added two new credentials to the portfolio of products. She also led the organization in becoming accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Ms. Springer has a BS degree in Management from Clemson University.

Andrew Schmidt joined the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2012 to develop and manage engagement programs for Chief Human Resources Officers. Andrew and his team have built a global community of 500 CHROs that hold peer networking events, participate in applied research and advocacy, and advise SHRM on business issues related to the HR profession. Recently, Andrew has been using his background in competency modeling to help build SHRM’s new certification for HR professionals. 

Prior to joining SHRM, Andrew was a management consultant and worked with c-level clients in finance, IT, HR, and marketing to build and transform organizational programs. He specialized in succession planning, leadership development, and organizational design. Andrew completed his Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology with a dissertation that examined the effects of toxic leadership on military units.

Kathleen is currently the President of The HeaRt Group, a human resource consulting firm, with expertise in organizational development, talent acquisition and management, employee engagement, performance leadership, compensation and benefits. She is the former Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. Prior to that, she was Corporate Vice President of Human Resources at Edgewater Technology in Fayetteville, AR for five years, helping with the acquisition of 44 companies to form Staffmark Inc., later becoming Edgewater. Prior to this position she held various executive human resources positions at Acxiom Corporation, Express Human Resources and M.M. Cohn. In her last position, she was responsible for the human resource function in the UAMS Medical Center, which has over 6500 employees, as well as campus responsibility for the operation functions that includes compensation, HR analytics, recruitment, organizational development, employee relations, affirmative action, immigration, compliance, benefits, employee services, and performance management for 11,000 employees. The HeaRt Group’s focus is to work with small to mid-sized business owners and executives to develop Human Resource practices best aligned with their business objectives and strategic plans. The HeaRt Group provides common sense human resource advice by solving Human Resource challenges, handling Human Resource issues and partnering with clients to enhance their organization. Ms. McComber has over 40 years’ experience in the human resource profession and has done extensive work in the areas of compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance leadership, diversity and organizational development 30 of those at the senior level. She is a member of the Central Arkansas Human Resource Association (CAHRA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for many years. She has served on the CAHRA board of directors twice serving as Chair. She has also served on the SHRM Board of Directors for seven years and held the top volunteer position as Chair in 1998. She served four years on the Human Resource Certification Board and six years on the SHRM Foundation Board serving as chair in 2006. She holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Arkansas and a M.A. in Management from Webster University. She is on the faculty of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the College of Public Health and Webster University teaching leadership and human resource classes at the graduate level.

Jeff Tulloch is vice president of MetLife’s PlanSmart®, Workplace Benefits, and Business Advantage organization.  

In this role he is responsible for overseeing PlanSmart, MetLife’s financial education platform which provides education and assistance to meet the diverse financial needs of employees.  More than 170 of the Fortune 500 companies currently rely on PlanSmart to support their financial wellness efforts.

 Jeff is passionate about helping employees improve their financial wellness through education and is committed to empowering them to take action to achieve their financial goals.  He speaks at various seminars on the topic and also works with MetLife leaders globally to bring financial education to international employees of companies located in countries such as India, Japan, and Mexico. 

In addition to PlanSmart, Jeff oversees MetLife’s Business Advantage organization, leading a cross-channel initiative that provides coordinated resources and support to help MetLife firms succeed in the small business owner market. 

Through the Workplace Benefits arm of his organization, Jeff manages a team that provides voluntary benefits to companies. 

Jeff has served in a number of roles with MetLife since joining the company in 1996.  Prior to his current role, he had responsibility for MetLife’s Strategic Alliance group, focused on establishing and managing distribution relationships with associations, affinity groups, and a variety of other distribution organizations. 

Jeff and his wife, Karen, live in Ridgefield, CT, and have two college-aged sons.  When he’s not promoting financial wellness, you can find Jeff on a ski slope, racing slalom, giant slalom, and super-G in the United States Masters division.

Lisa serves as Director of Clinical Services & Education at House of Ruth Maryland. Lisa is responsible for oversight of adult therapeutic services, children’s therapy, residential childcare, intervention programs for perpetrators of intimate partner violence, and the agency’s Training Institute. Lisa oversees the day-to-day operation of these programs and coordinates new program initiatives to improve the quality and scope of services.

Lisa has been with House of Ruth Maryland since 1998 and her emphasis on a family perspective for addressing intimate partner violence was cause for an invitation to the White House in March of 2010 to consult on federal legislation regarding responsible fatherhood programs and domestic violence.  She served as the Vice President of the national organization, Women in Fatherhood, for over six years and as Chair of Maryland’s Abuse Intervention Collaborative for ten years. She currently serves on the Governor’s Family Violence Council and Baltimore City’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team.

Lisa demonstrates strength in creating collaborative partnerships between programs that have historically conflicting agendas and provides technical assistance in this area to programs across the country. 

Lisa is a Baltimore City native and is proud to continue to live and work there with her incredibly patient husband and gentle pit bull.

Maya Raghu is the Deputy Director of Policy at the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs at the U.S. Department of Labor. As a member of the agency’s senior leadership team, she advises the Director on the development and implementation of strategies, regulations, policies and programs to further the agency’s mission, and represents the interests of OFCCP with other agencies within the Department, the federal government, and with stakeholders.

Prior to joining the Department of Labor, Ms. Raghu served as the Director of Workplace Equality and Senior Counsel at the National Women’s Law Center, where she developed and coordinated priorities and strategies for NWLC’s workplace gender equality efforts, with a focus on low paid workers. She led federal legislative and regulatory initiatives and advocacy, stakeholder engagement, engaged in narrative shift and culture change efforts, and impact litigation and amicus briefs on a range of workplace gender equality and economic security issues including pay equity, harassment, and civil rights enforcement. Prior to joining NWLC, Ms. Raghu was a senior attorney at Futures Without Violence and at Legal Momentum. She was also previously an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and a law clerk to the Hon. Vanessa D. Gilmore of the Southern District of Texas. Ms. Raghu is a graduate of Trinity University and Georgetown University Law Center. She has appeared in a number of media outlets, including PBS Newshour, NPR, CNN, and The New York Times.
