Candice Powell-Caldwell is a dynamic personality and highly regarded resource in educational and business circles for schools, non-profit organizations and professionals looking to build, measure and sustain inclusive, “culture add” organizations. A nationally recognized speaker and presenter with 16+ years of successful experience as a K-12 educator, independent school leader and D&I practitioner and consultant, Candice specializes in leading and facilitating conversations about relationship cultivation, and understanding and developing organizational culture.
Candice’s personal credo: “relationships before task” drives her strategic partnership with educators, business leaders, and board of directors, as she presents at national conferences and facilitates workshops on such topics as cultural competence, inclusive leadership, and the impact of unconscious bias in the workplace.
Candice earned her M.A. in African American Studies from Columbia University and her B.A. (Hons) in English from McMaster University. Her widely-viewed 2016 TEDx Talk, “A Mother’s Story and A Child’s Voice: Understanding Selective Mutism” increased awareness and education about the childhood anxiety disorder, underscoring the correlation between bias and misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment strategies.
When not speaking or presenting, Candice can be found carb-loading as she prepares to run her 7th marathon. A native Canadian, Candice also loves hanging out on the beaches of Cape May, New Jersey with her husband and their five children.
