Prior to SHRM, Jamie was a boomerang employee with two separate stints at National Geographic, where he most recently served as Director of Marketing and Engagement. He previously worked at RedPeg Marketing, building brand activations and experiences for clients such as Enterprise, GEICO, TD Bank, and the Virginia Lottery. He began his conference planning career at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and is a graduate of West Virginia University.

Abbey Dively serves as SHRM’s Manager of Event Experience, where she brings to life SHRM’s event portfolio, including specialty and annual conferences. She specializes in developing strategies to engage audiences in meaningful ways, with expertise in planning and executing impactful experiences.

Prior to that, Abbey was the communications lead for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement (at the time nationally sponsored by Macy's and CVS Health). Previously, she served as a media advocacy communications manager in support of the American Heart Association's federal advocacy agenda.

Abbey previously acted as an account executive at Stanton Communications, a public relations firm serving corporations, industry associations and non-profit organizations. She also interned with The SPA Way Public Relations Agency in London, UK.

Abbey holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in public relations, a marketing cognate and a professional writing minor from Virginia Tech.

Renée Rouse is Director of Integrated Marketing at SHRM, where she works across teams and within the marketing division to ensure the creation of strategic, seamless experiences for our members and audiences. She is a digital marketer and content strategist with over a decade of B2C and B2B experience across the automotive, consumer packaged goods, hospitality, food, and technology industries.

Prior to joining the SHRM family, she was Global Digital Marketing Manager for Employer Brand at Marriott International. She also worked for the global public relations agency, Edelman where she led the digital content team out of the Washington, DC office. Renée started her career in the SEO space at a startup, as a social media specialist, creating and optimizing social channels for her clients. Renée was also a member of the Washington Women in PR (WWPR) Board in 2015 as the Website Chair, and a 2017 Honoree for the WWPR Emerging Leaders Award.

Cherrie’s career landed her in key assignments world-wide to lead and influence change in Hungary, Bosnia, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Afghanistan, Iraq, South Korea, the Pentagon, Our Lady of the Lake, GE Lighting and GE Capital.  She culminated her military career at the Pentagon, by leading the Army Chief of Staff’s transitional strategy in three pivotal roles: Chief of Operations for Transition Strategic Outreach, Deputy Director for Transition Strategic Outreach and as the Employment Director for the Soldier for Life Program.  After her military service, Cherrie served as the Human Resources Director for Our Lady of the Lake, Quality Trainer and Organizational Developer for GE Financial Services, Marketing and Sales for GE Lighting.  Her corporate culmination came as an executive for GE Capital, as the Senior Integration Leader. 

She is the President at ShiftForward, a Human Capital Solutions firm, based in Atlanta, GA.  Cherrie received her B.A. in Communications from Black Hills State University, Spearfish, SD, where she was recognized as the Distinguished Military Graduate and by Who’s Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She earned a Master’s in Human Resources with an emphasis in International Management, from Webster University, St. Louis, MO.  She holds professional certifications for Senior Professional Human Resources, Executive & Organizational Coaching and Quality Management.

Laura Whitaker, M. Ed., began her relationship with Extra Special People, Inc. by working as a counselor and, subsequently, a leadership team member in 2003.  With her passion for enhancing the lives of children with developmental disabilities and her specialized education in this field, Laura was selected as the director after the founder, Martha Wyllie’s sudden passing in 2004. She has found her dream job with ESP (or as she says, her dream job found her!).  As Executive Director, Laura uses her leadership and management strengths to manage staff, oversee multiple year-round programs and raise funds to run programs. Her favorite part of the job is getting to hug the many children who walk through the ESP doors.

Josh Christianson is Project Director for the Partnership on Inclusive Apprenticeship (PIA) where he leads efforts to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce through apprenticeship. Josh has extensive experience in supporting the diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts of non-profit organizations, private companies, and government agencies.
 
He is the former director of the Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT), where he built cross-sector partnerships to shape the policies and practices contributing to the development of accessible emerging technologies in the workplace.
 
Before coming to PEAT Josh was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte where he provided talent strategies, change management, and leadership development support to federal agencies.
 
Prior to Deloitte he spent several years with The Posse Foundation as the Career Program Manager where he cultivated relationships with companies and organizations to provide career development opportunities for Posse Scholars and Alumni.

Mary V. L. Wright leads one of the SHRM Foundation’s four pillars of work: Skill Building - Preparing People for Today’s and Tomorrow’s Workplaces.  A critical part of that effort is leading the implementation of the US DOL funded HR Registered Apprenticeship Program, the first national HR apprenticeship program. As such, she is responsible for all parts of the program – development, marketing, sales, budget and evaluation.  In addition, she leads the Foundation’s work on the role of credentials in achieving an organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals and is an integral part of the team in promoting the inclusion of untapped talent in the workforce.

Ms. Wright has many years of experience connecting the public and private sectors in municipal finance, government affairs, and workforce development as a project leader, facilitator and subject matter expert.

Previously, Ms. Wright was a director at Jobs for the Future (JFF) where she designed and supervised the completion of foundation, government and employer-funded projects on topics including: expanding employability skills, developing apprenticeship and work-based learning strategies, utilizing labor market information to determine educational focus, better hiring and training practices for people with disabilities, improving entry level jobs for the retail sector, determining the correct educational focus for specific geographic areas including the state of Florida and Columbus Ohio, and an in-depth analysis of green infrastructure jobs.

Prior to joining JFF, she served as director at The Conference Board in New York City, driving its work in workforce readiness, business, and education partnerships. She also focused on improving the employment outcomes for people with disabilities through research and convenings. Ms. Wright co-authored or acted as project director on several key Conference Board reports regarding workforce readiness skills, including Are They Really Ready to Work? and The Ill-Prepared Workforce.

She serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Work & the Economy and the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation.

Ms. Wright received a Master of Business Administration in public/nonprofit management from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Affairs from Connecticut College.
